Maid-O-Mist

Every time I have visitors I take them to Niagara Falls. It's one of the 7 wonders of the world, it has a fudge, two casinos, a wax museum, Ripley's believe it or not, fun houses and it has my new favourite attraction... The Maid of the Mist. In 29 years I had never been on the Maid of the Mist.... It is probably the best thing about Niagara Falls.. Yup, better than the fudge :-)

For $13.00 you get a lovely boat ride to the falls, you get pretty close too. You get sprayed with the mist and you get to do it all fashioning a fancy blue garbage bag.

Another lovely day spent with my wicked awesome visitors.

Wicked Awesome Visitors

When travelling through Australia in 2003 I was fortunate enough to cross paths with two of the most wonderful mates a girl could have, Frankie and Simon. I went to their wedding in 2005 and met the beautiful and lovely Charlotte from Denmark. Lucky me the three of them have come for a visit. I suspect the next 2 weeks will be a blast as it already started with some shenanigans.

The second day of their visit we went to the Argos game. I'm not sure what they enjoyed the most, but it was a toss up between the Beer, the Cheerleaders and the Kiss Cam.. the Argos were definitely not it :-) who can blame them.

Saturday we headed to one of the best events Toronto has in the summer, some refer to it as Christmas in August, but it is more commonly known as the Beer Festival. That's correct, a festival of beer. I knew my English/Danish friends would enjoy this as much as we Canadians. A day of frolicking in the sun drinking, mingling, dancing and playing games. It was festive day.
Here we are enjoying some brew with a stranger...

In the evening, Simon and Frankie were knackered... but Charlotte fought through the jet lag and came out for dancing and more drinking until the very wee hours of the am. All and all a great Saturday in August. One that will bring me smiles for a long time.

Congratulations!

Over the last 20 years I have grown close to Goldie, learned so much about her and become prouder of her everyday. We have been through good times, bad times and hard times, but through all that she managed to keep her head up, get her PH.D, find herself a wonderful husband, and be there for her friends – even when distance was involved.

When I they got engaged I asked Maurizio what he wanted out of a marriage, he said, 'Love, happiness, a family and to spend the rest of his life with Goldie'. When I asked Goldie she paused and said, 'Jewelry'. (JK)

I couldn’t be prouder or happier for you both. I wish you a lifetime of happiness.

Congratulations Goldie & Maurizio.
